Malala 康復出院了! The Malala Project (GC)

(Thanks to Ilse, our very good teacher friend told us that Malala is back.  This brave and wise girl is going to strive for the right of education for all children)

Our Reply toTANFIELD LEA COMMUNITY P. SCHOOL, UK

Dear Daniel, Ella, Aaron, Olivia, Sophie and Caitlin

Here are the answers to your questions.

1. What is it like in Taiwan?
The weather here is very warm, sunny and wet.
The people here are friendly and passionate.
Taiwan abounds in fresh, sweet tropic fruit.
And there is no lack of beautiful seceneries, for example, beautiful beaches in Kenting, and the Taroko Gorge in Hualien .
But I think that the most special thing for you is the night market.
We often go out with family or friends after dinner, and night market is a good place for people who want to relax after a working or school day. Good snack, games, and drinks, you can have a lot fun there.

2. What's the name of your school?
The name of my school is Kaohsiung Municipal Fo-Gong Elementary School.

3.What’s your favorite subject in school?
My favorite subject is English. Because we always sing and dance in the class, that's funny!

4. What's the most commen pet in your country?
Dogs and cats are popular. There is a Cultural Center in Kaohsiung, many people will walk their dogs there and enjoy a beautiful afternoon.

5. What type of music do you listen to?
I listen to pop music of Taiwan like Jay Chou, Jolin Tsai and May Day.
I listen to K-pop music, too. Girls' Generation, Super Junior, CNBLUE.

6. What kinds of things do you celebrate?
We celebrate the Chinese New Year in January or February.
We gather around the table to eat Lunar New Year's Eve dinner, and children receive red envelopes from their parents.
And paste spring couplets on the gateposts.

7.What’s your culture like?
Taiwanese culture is a culture of mixed Confucian culture, Japan, Europe and the United States.
Roughly divided in aboriginal Culture, Hakka culture, and Han culture.
In recent years, Taiwan has increased a number of foreign brides from Southeast Asia, these new immigrants bring some new culture.

8.What do you do for your Hobbies?
I enjoy watching TV, listening to music, painting and playing basketball with my friends.

9. What have you been learning about?
In Taiwan, we have to learn many things.
Math, Chinese, and mother tongue, I have been learning from grade one.
Science, History, Geography, Civics, and English, I have been learning from third grade.

10. Do you know any facts about World War II which we have been learning about?
Comparing with the part of Europe, I think that I  know  more about  China and Japan's wars.
I think that If WWII had never happened, Taiwan might have been a part of China today and the leader of China might were not the communists.
Of course, mentioned above is just my guess.
As everyone knows, the US dropped the atomic bomb in Hiroshima and Nagasaki , and that brought an end to WWII.
Japanese paid the price for their ambition. But my opinion is that war is cruel and uncivilized, so we should use more wise way to solve problems.

Thanks for all the questions, we had fun answering them.
The way we say goodbye is "zai jian(再見) "and it means "see you", or just say "bye bye".

Zai jian!

Yours Sincerely,

Ming-shuang
(Linlin’s student)

Mystery Skype

Steve's Class made a Mystery Skype call to me and asked "yes-no" questions to quess where I am from.  They did a very good job and we had fun doing so! They are now in summer while we are now in winter.  Can you make a quess where they are from?  Maybe it is our turn to make a mystery skype call to them and find out the answer after we return to school in late February.
